What sea moss is
Sea moss is a red seaweed, Chondrus crispus, harvested from Atlantic coastal waters. It has been eaten in Ireland and the Caribbean for generations, traditionally boiled into a gel and stirred into drinks or used to thicken food. It is a mineral-rich sea vegetable containing iodine, magnesium, calcium, potassium and zinc.
Capsules versus gel
Making sea moss gel at home means soaking, rinsing, blending and refrigerating — and the result tastes of the sea and keeps about two weeks. Capsules skip all of it. You lose the versatility of stirring gel into smoothies, but for daily use capsules are what actually gets taken.
How to take them
Two capsules daily with a meal, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Store in a cool, dry place with the lid closed.
