Pure Ashwagandha Capsules 60s — R175

Organically grown Withania somnifera root extract, standardised to 5% withanolides, 500mg per capsule. Sixty capsules per bottle.

What ashwagandha is

Ashwagandha is one of the most established herbs in Ayurvedic tradition, used in India for well over two thousand years. The name translates roughly as “smell of the horse”, a reference to the root’s distinctive scent.

It is classed as an adaptogen — a plant traditionally used to help the body cope with everyday stress. It is now among the most widely taken herbal supplements worldwide.

Root, not leaf

Worth checking when you buy ashwagandha anywhere: root extract has the long history of traditional use and the bulk of the research behind it. Leaf extract is cheaper to produce and turns up in budget products. Ours is root.

Standardisation to 5% withanolides matters too — it means each batch delivers a consistent amount of the active compounds rather than varying with the harvest.

How to take it

One to two capsules daily with a meal, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Many people take it with breakfast or lunch. Consistency over several weeks tends to matter more than dose.

Questions

When should I take ashwagandha?

With a meal. Breakfast or lunch suits most people.

Root or leaf extract?

Root — standardised to 5% withanolides.

Capsules or powder?

We stock capsules. Ashwagandha powder has a strong, bitter, earthy taste that many people struggle with, which is why capsules are the more popular format.

Do you deliver nationwide?

Yes, all nine provinces. Free over R500, 1–2 business days to major centres.
