Tlotsa Lip Balm is a petroleum jelly balm with African agave aloe, made by us in Boksburg. 5g in a pocket tin, at R15.
What’s in it
Petroleum jelly as the base, with agave aloe grown from naturalised African agave. The jelly forms a layer that slows moisture loss — which is what lips need in dry air, since they have no oil glands of their own.
When people reach for it
- Highveld winters, when the air is dry and lips go first.
- Windy days and long drives with the aircon running.
- Overnight, applied a little more thickly.
- In a pocket or bag — at 5g it fits anywhere and costs little enough to keep several.
Getting the most from it
Apply to lips that are slightly damp rather than parched. Reapply through the day — no balm lasts as long as the label suggests, because you eat, drink and talk. Resist licking your lips first; that dries them further as the saliva evaporates.
